Years in the making

Your dancers can spend five, ten, sometimes nearly fifteen years at your studio. By graduation, your studio has been part of their lives for much of their childhood.

Graduation campaigns give dancers the chance to tell that story in their own words. They look back at where their dance journey began, share the memories that still stand out, thank the parents who supported them along the way, and leave a little advice for the dancers coming up behind them.

Their video premieres at the year-end recital, where dancers get to share their story with the teachers, families, and friends who were there for so much of it.

Caulfield School of Dance • Port Moody, BC

Caulfield wanted to shine a spotlight on a special graduating class and capture the years of memories that brought them to their final season at the studio.

Across two interview sessions, we sat down with the graduates, their friends, and parents to piece together each dancer’s journey at Caulfield. Families then shared personal photos and videos from over the years, giving us another layer of their story to weave into each video.

Drawing from our experience creating Dance Films, we combined those interviews and memories with visual effects, animated typography, and dance-driven editing rarely seen in traditional graduation videos.

The interviews were filmed during Caulfield’s Media Days, using the same approach featured in our Dance Xpressions' Media Day project. The finished videos premiered at Caulfield’s year-end recital, bringing each dancer’s story back to the community that helped shape it.

Finding the story in the edit

We didn't know exactly what these videos would look like when we started editing them.

We had hours of interviews alongside years of photos and videos submitted by the graduates and their families. Most of that footage was never captured with these grad videos in mind, so the challenge was finding unexpected connections between what was being said and what we had to show.

That limitation became part of the creative process. Through pacing, visual effects, text animation, music, and carefully chosen moments from their archives, we shaped each collection of memories into a video that felt intentional, personal, and completely different from the next.

Understanding the years behind it

We've watched our own students grow from their first classes to their final years at the studio. That experience shaped the questions we asked at Caulfield.

We wanted to bring back the stories graduates might have forgotten, the people who made those years special, and the moments that still make them laugh. The goal wasn't simply to document their final year. We wanted each video to remind them how they got there.

Their moment on the big screen

At Caulfield's year-end recital, the graduates watched their grad videos alongside their families, friends, teachers, and fellow dancers.

There were laughs, tears, and applause as years of memories played across the screen. Then each graduate was recognized in front of the studio community that had watched them grow.

After months of interviews, old photos, family videos, and editing, this was the moment everything had been created for.

A tradition worth building

Caulfield plans to continue the Graduation Campaign every year.

Each graduating class will leave with its own stories, personalities, friendships, and memories. Capturing them creates a growing record of the dancers who have shaped the studio, while giving the next graduating class a celebration they can look forward to.

Over time, every new video adds another chapter to Caulfield's history.

Make their final year unforgettable

Your graduating dancers have given years of their lives to dance. Their final season deserves to recognize the people they became along the way.

A graduation campaign captures those stories and gives your entire studio the chance to celebrate them together.
