New Dance Season, New Purpose:
Setting Goals for Your Studio
It’s September, which means it’s a new dance season, which means welcome back, studio directors! Now that you’ve enjoyed that summer sun, it’s time to put your work cap back on and start to ponder what you want to achieve over the next 10 months.
Before you get into the routine of managing classes, schedules, and preparing for competitions, we challenge you to think about your goals, your path, and how to execute that across four areas: your studio, your dancers, yourself, and your marketing.
While you’re thinking about it, here is a marketing health checklist to help you get your studio ready before the season begins.

What does success look like for your studio?
Success can mean many things, but what pillars are you putting in place to support your definition of it? Think bigger picture, then work your way in to build your checklist for success. This could be increased registration, a revenue goal for greater financial stability, more community engagement on studio events, or faster weekly progression for your dancers. Your goals should be specific enough to act as your compass throughout the season so you have a better idea of the direction you’re taking your studio.
Dancers make your studio. Make it matter to them.
Let’s shift to your dancers. What do you want them to walk away with when the season ends? Do you want them to build on their technique and choreography retention, or is it more about developing their soft skills such as their confidence, friendship building, and adaptability?
Trophies and performances are absolutely milestones worth celebrating, but what they learn during their journey as dancers can be just as meaningful.
Think about the character you want your dancers to develop, then let that shape your curriculum.
Don’t leave yourself out of the plan.
A new dance season should work for you, too.
That could look like fewer evenings staying up answering emails, delegating responsibilities so you’re not stretched too thin, and having enough time to take a weekend off without worrying about work. We know it’s hard because we’ve been there too, but a healthy studio requires a healthy you!
Set clear boundaries, so you know exactly how much energy you’re going to spend. Build systems that reduce repetitive tasks so you can breathe and actually enjoy the fruits of your labour.
If your personal goal is to have more time, look at what’s consuming your daily routine and decide what can be simplified, delegated, or removed. Clear boundaries between work and your personal life will help bring your best self into the studio every morning.

Market your studio clearly and with purpose.
Posting more isn’t a marketing goal; that’s marketing without direction.
If your priority is enrollment, your content should clearly explain your programs, their benefits, and how to register.
If you want to strengthen your studio culture, talk about the people who bring life to your studio: from the staff, your dancers, their families, and more. Share their stories and showcase your studio’s culture.
If you’re launching a new program, build awareness around it before asking people to sign up. Talk about what you’re teaching, who it’s for, and what dancers can get out of this program.
Marketing works better when you promote something specific.
That is the foundation of a strong dance studio marketing strategy, and that’s exactly what we’re here for. We turn your goals into actionable strategy, content, and storytelling so your marketing can keep moving without overwhelming your schedule. You can see what that looks like here.
Start the new dance season with clear goals
The new dance season will get busy — fast. Having a clear purpose for your studio, your dancers, yourself, and your marketing gives you a reference point when deciding where your time, money, and attention should go.
Your goals don’t need to be massive. They need to be meaningful, specific, and realistic.
If you already know what you want to accomplish this season, Marketing Movez can support your goals by taking marketing off your plate. We’re here to keep your studio visible, connected, and moving toward your goals through these services.
